Most Bizarre/Interesting Client Project
It’s definitely the time I collaborated with a local influencer to make a webpage documenting the local wing nights in our city.
“Wing night” is a weekly special in which a bar sells chicken wings at clearance prices. It was (and I imagine still is) hugely popular – there would be lines to get in at the more popular locations.
But there was a problem – while I was familiar with all of my local wing nights, it was a little frustrating if I wanted cheap wings on a different night of the week. There was no practical way of finding all the bars with a Monday wing special for example – short of calling every single bar in the general area and asking.
Years passed that I really wished such a page would exist.
Then one day I sat down with a local influencer to talk SEO for his local blog. Before we talked about anything else, I told him he needed to build this page – and he agreed.
A month later, it existed. And it turned out there was HUGE demand for this exact piece of content.
6 years later and this single post is still bringing in 15,000+ clicks a year despite not having been touched in 5 years (and probably has out of date information). Not a single piece of keyword research went into building this thing. We just collaborated on building the page that we wanted as consumers and brought it to life.
I could probably spin this into a lesson about knowing your audience and product market fit, and all that stuff. But really, I just feel a very deep, personal satisfaction knowing we brought the wings to the people.
