Top 3 Influencers You Follow Religiously

  • Emily Kramer and Kahtleen Estreich from MTK1: If you are building a marketing team at a tech startup – you need to follow them. Their newsletter is a classic example of less is more – so much more. They don’t publish every week, sometimes not even monthly. But every guide that they do post is outstanding and above and beyond everyone else.
  • Peep Laja from Wynter and his podcast “How to win”. Peep doesn’t do fluff.
  • Dave Gerhardt and his Exit Five community to be surrounded by like-minded B2B marketers.

Most Bizarre/Interesting Client Project

In my early days as a freelancer, I did everything and anything – page titles, meta descriptions, technical audits, website building, CRO – and ghostwriting.

And like a living SEO nightmare and cliché I wrote about topics that I did not have personal experience with or expertise in.

Like growing marijuana – indoors and hydroponic.

It was a classic pillar page approach.

  • One parent page for the main keyword.
  • 11 supporting articles on a neat URL structure, like: https://productiongrower.com/blogs/how-to-grow-weed/flowering
  • Each long form (about 1.000 words), highly structured and keyword focused.

You can still review it on Webarchive. The whole pillar used to rank for 7,103 keywords in its peak.

It was in the top 10 for “how to grow weed” for most of 2019 and 2020 – even hit Position 1 once.

What Values Motivate You?

Novelty. I don’t want to do the same thing this year as I did last year. At festivals, I love it the most when I can discover a new artist for the first time. At work, I like to pioneer new projects and processes, build the first version and figure out how it works.

Favorite Ways to Spend Your Free Time?

  • Saturday farmer’s market in Berlin Friedrichshain and my partner cooking us  brunch after.
  • Traveling to new places. In 2023, I visited Costa Rica, Portugal, USA, Greece, and Italy and loved it.
  • Creating new costumes for music festivals and transformative events.

Favorite Podcast/Webinar Appearance You’ve Done?

This one is not so much about marketing, than it is about the entrepreneurial mindset towards marketing. I had a lot of fun stepping out of my usual topics and creating this talk on mindful marketing.

Favorite Area Of Your Work?

Believe it or not… I like reporting and quarterly business reviews. I like making slide decks and telling a cohesive story. I also love content strategy and creating content calendars.
